Licensing rules in different states

Unfortunately in Australia, the process for getting your licence is different for every state.  There are many reasons for this, but often it’s just because some states have far fewer people on the roads, so the requirements for driving are less stringent.

Most Australian states require that you start with a learner permit, get a specified number of hours of driving experience (including some hours at night), pass a Hazard Perception Test, and final pass a practical Driving Test.

Each State in Australia also has different rules for how a person immigrating to Australia can transfer their licence to an Australian licence.  Most states require that you must start the process within 3 months of arriving.  Different states allow an easy transfer of an overseas licence from one particular country, whereas other states require people from that same country to start from a learner permit.  It’s complex!

Added to this, some road rules are different between different states of Australia.

Licence4Me is committed to helping learners in any Australian state, as well as learners immigrating from another country, to get their licence as quickly as possible.  Following the process using the Licence4Me app will mean that you will know immediately what the next step in the process is, so that there’s no delay in your progress.  The app also gives you access to loads of resources, specific to your state, to help you pass the various tests along the way.

Getting your licence is very important to ensure that you have every opportunity for work and leisure, in this large country.
